Arthur L. Garnes, 1912-2010. Born and raised in New York City by Godly, Christian parents, saved at the age of 6 years, Arthur was in fellowship at Grace Gospel Chapel in Harlem with his family. Upon graduation from medical school, Arthur went into private practice in NYC and specialized in reconstructive surgery, especially of the hand. His preaching began at age 10 when he was asked to give his testimony. He studied the Scriptures diligently all his life and his ministry was widely loved and appreciated. After retiring from medical practice, Arthur and his wife, Vivian, moved to Maryland and fellowshipped with the believers gathered to the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ in Rockville, MD, where he served joyfully for over 30 years as an elder, counsellor, and prayer warrior. Dr. Garnes believed and lived the Word of God in every detail of his life. He was never ashamed of the Gospel of our blessed Lord and ministered faithfully at every opportunity. He loved the Lord's people and his chief joy was to study the Scriptures and to be with the saints. As he so often said, "The Lord's people are the best -- even with all our faults."
