C E Wigg

Born: 1930 at Abbotsford Hospital Sydney, Australia during the Great Depression. My godly parents were of Tasmanian origin and I spent my early years at Five Dock, Sydney.

Born Again: I came to Christ at 7½ years of age. The teaching concerning Christ's return and the Rapture of the Church was an important influence on my conversion to Christ.

Turned around by tragedy: During adolescent years, I had a period of spiritual rebellion in my life. The untimely death of my older brother, Bob in 1946 was used by God to bring me back to the Lord Jesus. Later that year, I was received into fellowship at the assembly where my parents went. Then I was soon immersed in study of the Scriptures and began preaching which has since been a major part of my life.

Married: I married Bev Stokell in 1954 as well as raising two sons born to us. We also adopted and raised four indigenous Australian children. In the late 1940s, I began a career in the building trade which eventually grew into a partnership.

Travels: I used to write to those that we supported in India, and it pleased the Lord to save many of them in His own time. After this I began to get the thought passing through my mind that it would be wonderful if one day the Lord would allow me to visit India and meet some of the children that we were supporting. This took place in 1976 when I was able to visit Mauritius, Zambia and then India. I have had the privilege of preaching the Gospel, teaching and ministering the Word of God in 14 of India's States, as well as the enclaves of Pondicherry, Goa and New Delhi. I have also visited and ministered in Nepal, and Sikkim, along with dear brother Raghu of Siliguri whom I have known for many years, and whom I love very much and his family. In addition to the above, I have ministered in Singapore, Malaysia then later visited Assemblies in U.A.E, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Egypt, the U.K. U.S.A., Canada, Fiji, New Zealand etc. as well as 5 different States of Australia. I have ministered much amongst our Egyptian, and Arabic-speaking brethren in both Sydney and Egypt.

This Century: From the early years of this century, my sphere of service began to narrow. Advancing years and declining health meant that I was no longer able to travel overseas. My last visit to New South Wales in the Lord's service was in 2008. After some 32 years of travels, I have been blessed by the kind visits of people I met in the Lord's service.
